Team Rituals
Pride In How We Do Things
- Thank the Passer
We want a strong, more visible signal that everyone can see when someone throws a pass that leads to a basket. We thank the passer by pointing to them, acknowledging them for their unselfish act that helped the team. - Stand Up for Your Teammate
Our starters in waiting and those on the bench are obligated to stand up and applaud their teammate as they come out of the game for a breather. This is our way of thanking the player who has been on the court doing their best to help their teammates succeed…they have earned our thanks. - The Tired Signal
Our players are to show a fist, indicating that they need a breather for a minute or two. Players that unselfishly admit they need a breather by showing a fist will enter back into the game as soon as they are ready. Players that do not indicated they are tired, but are taken out due to fatigue, are risking further playing time. - Sprint in Practice, Sprint to the Bench
Players are expected to sprint into position at practice in between drills to minimize wasted time, to condition, and to demonstrate a willingness to learn. By sprinting to the bench during the game, we indicate to our opponent that we are not tired. - Fallen Teammate
When a teammate has fallen, for any reason, it is the obligation of their team to help pick up that individual. This also includes those moments and times when a player is down mentally and psychologically. We MUST be there for one another. - The School’s Front Porch
The managers, players and coaches must represent themselves, their families, and their teammates, plus the entire school in a positive light at all times, both on the court and off the court. We might not win each and every game on the scoreboard, but we can outclass our opponent each and every game.
