Offensive Philosophy

Our individual and team offensive rules are successful when each player concentrates on each possession on taking care of the ball, execution, and unselfish team play. We are an attacking offense that likes to go after the defense in a simple in and out philosophy. Look inside for a teammate and kick back outside for a teammate. We look to fast break at every opportunity and always take the high percentage shot. We determine the outcome of the game. We must believe in the system, our players and ourselves as coaches.

Offensive Principles

1.       Play within your capabilities…shot selection.
2.       Think before you move and move with a purpose.
3.       After passing, always cut towards the basket.
4.       We are always attacking the defense, whether in the half-court or full-court.
5.       Play your defender on offense.
6.        Post players work in tandem with each other in a high-low fashion.
7.       High post is one pass away from the ball at all times.
8.       Post players are always looking to seal their defensive man. This is option number one at all times.
9.       Read the defense.
10.       Dribble to improve passing angle, balance on the floor, drive to basket or get out of trouble.
11.       Pass away from the defense.
12.       Set and use screens properly.
13.       Maintain proper spacing.
14.       Anticipate and rebound all shots.
15.       Team rebounding will be set up in a 3-1-1 structure. We will triangle rebound with a fullback and a halfback back on defense contesting the quick outlet and fast break.
16.       Always play unselfishly and always make the next open pass. Remember to always acknowledge the passer after you score.
17.       Set plays will be used to allow for a hot shooter, to exploit mismatches or weak defenders, or for late game situations.
