13 “Musts” For Your Players To Become Great Defenders

Your players should pride themselves on their defense.
Here's a list of
defensive musts to give your players:
1.
All defenders must be verbal. Communicate on defense!
2.
No foolish fouls.
3.
Don't allow yourself to be screened.
4.
Have live feet.
5.
Don't let a ball handler split traps.
6.
Don't foul when trapping.
7.
Pressure as much as possible without allowing penetration.
8.
Take away cuts.
9.
Dead front" the post.
10.
Ball-side defense makes you tough, but help-side defense will
make
you successful.
11.
Pressure shots.
12.
Always box out.
13.
Defense must be your team's lifeblood. Always think about
playing
great defense!
