Guarding the Three-Point Shot

- Make
contact by the line of scrimmage (the half line), and form a wall with
some depth.
- Chase
around the screen. IF you short cut, you'd better get there.
- The
man guarding the screener must extend the bump.
- Close
out with high hands. Upper arms parallel to the floor.
- Ignore
the threeipoint line when guarding a "Dead 3's".
- Straddle
the lane on helpside against a "Dead 3's".
- Give
great shot pressure without fouling.
- Block
Out a man, Pursue the ball, Chin the Rebound, Outlet.
Don't give up any second shots. He won't miss two in a row.
Dead 3's are:
- More than half of his shots are three's
- He doesn't shoot many free throws
- He won't put the ball on the floor.
Open 3's are:
- Where a good close out takes away his three.
Player 3's are:
- He can shoot.
- He can drive.
- He can has an intermediate game.
- He is a player.
