Defensive Conversion – Zone or Man
a. Forcing the opponent to make mistakes without
reaching and having to block shots.
MAKE BODY STOPS.
b. Give your team fundamental concepts on defense. Each player should have an idea what they
should do while defending.
i.
Stop the ball from
advancing.
ii.
Force the player to
pick up the ball.
iii.
Obscure vision to pass.
iv.
Recover to new defense
and on help and recover.
III.
Rules Which Govern Our Play
a. Don’t lock the floor by dribbling to dead spots.
b. Use swing pass and develop your post player.
c. Establish strong foot fakes and ball fakes on
drives. Work hard on quickness.

e. Know and practice rule changes.

Repetitions on special
situations on both offense and defense.
Practice the end of the game first.
g. Use your turnover chart daily and end practice with a

We want our perimeter
players to stay on their feet defensively when guarding the perimeter shot.
